Att all Gurus out there this one is a hard task:

does any one know how to splice a ae92 speedo wiring (from an SX) into a AE 101 20v loom, is it possible to do, will it work and how hard is it??

From looking at it it is a major headache, but still i feel it can be done.

Is the speedo cable driven? (I don't know much about Corollas)
I hooked up cruise control to my Caldina which has an electronic speedo. I was told by the place I bought the kit from that generally in Toyotas the speedo wire is Purple with a Yellow stripe.
You may just be able to driven your old speedo from the new loom.

I haven't tried to changed speedos yet but am looking at swapping my Jap spec 180km/h one for an Aussie version (its weird driven at 110km/h with the speedo needle way past vertical!)
You may want to try just plugging it in & see if it works. Otherwise, if the speedo dial is the same size as your original, your may be able to dismantle the cluster & swap the whole mechanisms within.
