RA28 FixerUpper Tue, 11 November 2003 10:32 Go to next message
I've recently acquired a manual '77 RA28, with blown 18rc, in need of replacement. Most panels are fine but some rust in fender, bonnet (above battery) and under boot lid.

I plan to remedy these problems but would be keen to hear from anyone who has stripped and rebuilt similar.

Any suggestions on a reasonably stock engine but twin cam and unleaded, and any hints for new players.

I'm no techo or rev head, just an enthusiast keen to do a job properly, to a deserving example of engineering.

Do a search on google for 18rg toyota engines as these are a varient of the rc but with twin cams etc. There is celica club in Canberra if your not a member then here is a link http://www.geocities.com/social_ccg/
Other than that there are heaps of people who will give you a hand and answer any questions here on toymods

Looking for an 18RG in Canberra Sun, 14 December 2003 02:33 Go to previous messageGo to next message
For my RA28. Thanks Jason and Trent for your encouragement.

I've found an 18rgeu but it had broken mounts on the block (can my 18RC block replace it.

Another one the guy won't answer his phone, and another comes with the RA28 is a bit rough (engine and car).

Emailed a couple of engine importers who reckon they have one, but they don't get back to me either.

Any suggestions, or anyone got something around Canberra.

I'm told that the mount brackets on the block and alternator mount are 'snapped off' the block, from a combination of a prang and the wrecker removing it from the car.

Nasty,

18rc block will work but you will need to change a few internal parts.
