What colour was it? You'd be amazed at the raw material costs of some pigments. Also, a 1L is a pain in the arse, so you are always paying a bit more it. And being 2-pack, you need the B-pack as well, which is another small volume item.

2-pack consists of an A-pack (usually pigment dispersed in a polyol of some description) and a B-pack (isocyanate harder) - hence the name 2-pack. You mix A and B together just prior to spraying - all 2-packs have a "pot" life, and are never sold premixed as the hardner causes the paint to set/gel.

Yes, I'm a newbie to 2-Pak, as i usually spray acrylic.
So are all B-pak's universal? like it can be purchased from all workshops etc?
whats the ratio of mix, and thinner mix as well?

B-packs aren't really universal, as the type of isocyanate you use can differ depending on the A-pack.
Mix ratios, thinner type and level will differ depending on the product. Check the can label for the recommended levels. Just be like some people I've heard of and spray the A-pack first, then spray the B-pack on top of that

are u being sarcastic there? LOL
nah serious, so any workshop will have the recommended isocyanate if i have it mixed there?
Also, for a clear top coat - can i use just any clear coat (acrylic?) or it must be enamel?

Whoops, I meant to write "don't be like some people..."
Wherever you buy it from should supply as both A and B pack - it's very rare to be sold seperately. They will tint it up there, but if you are applying it yourself then they won't mix the A and B packs together - you do it just before spraying.
Supplier of paint will recommend a clear coat - as a general rule I'd use two-pack clear over the top of 2-pack paint as it's got more chance of adhering to itself. Acrylic may not stick that well and won't be as glossy. Depends on the brand/manufacturer though.
Be careful if spraying two-pack yourself, isocyanate isn't good for you, and many councils/govts have strict rules about using it outside or with the proper equipment.

jeezus. thats heaps. i paid a little more than that for 4 litres of tinted acrylic.
MAKE SURE YOU USE A PROPER AIR MASK THAT PUMPS CLEAN AIR INTO YOUR FACEMASK. 2pac is CARCENOGENIC(sp) ie: it causes cancer.
dunno about the B pack bit, but, i know you need a hardener or something to put onto 2pac after spraying it.

2-pack is considerably more expensive than acrylic, but also much harder and if a 2-pack polyurethane is used it lasts for ever, and holds it's gloss for ages as well.
Definately use the right breathing appartus, iscyanates are also terribly sensitizing and can give a severe allergic reaction. Plus they are carcinogens as Grega mentioned.
B-pack is often referred to as the harder, however it is mixed with A prior to spraying and not sprayed on afterwards. Read the instructions on the can (which no-one ever seems to do) and you'll be OK.
Good Luck - I'm not a car-respraying expert but I do know a bit about paint
