7MGE problem

hey guys
got an mx83 cressida stock 7mge. starts and idles ok but then if the revs are slowly raised when it gets to about 2000rpm it then drops back to about 1300rpm and repeats, with throttle held constant. it is fine at 1500 or 3000 or whatever, will maintain that speed but at 2000 revs drop. checked error codes and all clear.
any ideas?

try looking at the afm and any other electrical connections on the motor, especially the throttle body sensor
it sounds like an electrical sensor problem

yeah thats what i thought. have checked water temp sensor voltage and resistance they're fine, will check other voltages (tps, afm) see if i can find something

My 18R-GEU did something very similar when the TPS wasn't adjusted properly. If the ECU thinks the throttle is shut, it will kill the injectors above a certain RPM (usually around 1300rpm) because it thinks that's an overrun condition. So I'd be looking for a faulty/maladjusted TPS first.

i know my 6mge idles shockingly, and i think its coz of the TPS not being adjusted properly
it pops at idle, and fluctuates between 500 and 800 revs
i'm hoping adjusting the TPS will fix this, but it never drops the revs once i push on the throttle
if you have a TSRM, wack an DMM across the terminals of the TPS and check it out
