Centering a steering rack? Sun, 16 November 2003 10:48 Go to next message
Hello, does anyone know if there is a way to center a steering rack so you know it is exactly straight and in the middle?

I have a KE70 rack i'm setting up and have counted how many turns of the input shaft and roughly worked out the center from that but wondering if normally there is some marks to look for or something?

Thanks
joel

hey joel
best way is to push it one way then mark a spot(the tie rod end)
then pull it all way out and mark a spot
then halve the marks

usually the middle section it a slight raised section on inside the rack where the gears are

so the steering is a tiny bit harder when in centre then gets easier as u stasrt to turn
but
