hey, the car is in the shop getting the 2TGEU put in. I was thinking I may aswell get the exhaust upgraded while its there. Any reccomendations of what will help me get the most power out of it. I will be supercharging it in the very near future so I DON'T want to be upgrading it again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, asap. Thanks Guys
Cheers, Jacob

I'd recommend 2.25", or 2.5" if you don't mind it being a bit noisy. These engines tend to be fairly loud to begin with, and whacking a supercharger on it will make it significantly louder again!

I know you said you didn't want to change the exhaust twice, but on my gf's 2t-geu ta22, 2 1/4 suits it real nice.. a really nice exhaust note, loud when you dump it, but not at all 'airy' like an oversized rice exhaust..
It's got a hotdog, and a cheap commodore muffler at the back (which had to be put on because it was too loud originally EPA)
Supercharged? you'd get away with 2 1/4, but i would't go bigger than 2.5inch. Becuase unless you've got massive custom extractors to feed the 2.5 inch, then it's not going to do any good anyway..
Remember it's only 1.6 litres. If it was a turbo car then for sure 2.5in, but your not having to create a pressure difference between the different sides of a turbo!
As a really general guide, in a perfect world, if your running 14.7 pounds, then say it doubles your engine a 3.2litre, even with a 3.2 litre your 2.25inch exhaust is still good.

cheers HEMI. I'll let you know how I go !
2.25" was similar to the original estimate of 2". The exhaust is something I'm really unfamiliar to. So I don't even know if when buying extractors should I be price shopping? different brands? Where are the things forged? Are they all forged. I'm really an amatuer when it comes to exhaust. Apparently I don't need a cat converter coz its pre 1985. So this I take it means I can go from Head-extractors-muffler ? I this right?
Cheers, Jacob
ps. I like the way you guys don't give bullshit, helps save a few bucks. And most importantly learn

cat converter depends on whether the car from which the engine came has unleaded, i doubt it would've, my 18RG takes unleaded fine but it wasnt specified for it so i dont need 1

if your exhaust is still good dont change it till you supercharge blowers will use a larger system.

do you have extractors already? if so go for a perforated resonator(hotdog)12-15 inch long and a open chamber straigt through muffler at the rear.these mufflers tend to create their own atmosphere and create a vacum to draw out dead gasses, something like a LUKEY L2121 they tend to give a deeper note.
If you go for a perf strt thrgh the will give a real crackly note and tend to stop flowing when the reach a certain point.
good luck
