I have an Aussie delivered ST185 GrpA 3SGTE for sale. Engine is immaculate and has had every Toyota service up until it's currently 130K km. Engine is stock but does have an Aussie Exhaust 3.5 inch dump pipe off the turbo. $1000 bare, $1500 with GrpA ECU.

Well the air/water IC would be if it came with that But really it would be the ECU in this case which has the higher fuel cut and is properly mapped to 17psi whereas the normal GT4 ECU isn't. I'm pretty sure the rest of the mechanicals are the same between the non and GrpA Gen II 3SGTE's. The turbo's can be a slightly different spec but again i'm pretty sure all the aussie ST185's got the same turbo.

thats about it !
the blocks are identical - the head has slightly different Valve cutting - done by laser instead of otherwise i think, better ECU - the water to air intercooler + same turbo
Still a bloody good buy at 1500 peso's with the Group A ecu if its in such good order
A standard motor alone with ecu sets back over 2K at the moment thru the importers - and they aint even a Group A !

GRP A motors have a 55mm throttle body whilst normal GT4s are 50mm. They are interchangeable.

I understand the Aust delivered GpA celicas are not proper GpA homologation cars--they were all sold in japan and europe, with us just getting a few bits of trivia. moslty, it was because the makers could not be bothered with recertification to ADR's. if you look at the FIA home page, they have a list of all the GpA homologation papers issued. if you buy these direct, or thru CAMS, you will find all the proper GpA mods detailed, be they sporting evolution, model upgrades or whatever

Sorry terry but the 150 Carlos Sainz signature GrpA's brought to Oz are part of the 5000 homologation run and are identical to what you will find o/s (except where an o/s car is left hand drive).
Yes i will ship anywhere at buyers expense.
Team_weall i'll get you some pics asap.

nods to justen - our " carlos sainz " gt4's are identical in every way to those overseas and in japan - bar for the name " carlos sainz " and the limted edition plating
In japan they were known as the "RC" models ( saw one today in fact - its IDENTICAL to look at bar badging to the one justen now has ( and its black ! )
we blessed with oz spec Gt4's also got the Steel shafted turbo's instead of the japanese ceramic ones - so mechanically ours are Better than the grey imports - bar for the fact they ahve a slightly more powerful ecu runing them ( 5kw difference in favourto stock st185 jdm over oz spec i think in overall power output due to timing curves and consideration for better fuel.
All st185 GT4's have the torsen type rear LSD unit - regardless of group a or not.
On the other side of the coin the jap cars got more fancy gagetry and electronics the oz ones had so they are a bit more piggy in the weight stakes ( im happy with a 10 - 20 KG weight saving not having electric seats/bum warmers - or fancy zippy back rear view mirrors Etc..Anyway - its still a bargain buy for anyone wanting a great strong Gt4 motor

Plus climate control AC & Factory Elec Sunroof and the zippy back mirrors are great when you need that extra bit of speed (I thought they were an aerodynamic improvement for land speed records )

I dont profess to be a celica Gp A expert but was recalling what i was told when they were selling here new and competing internationally. I did have a quick squiz at the parts list and it shows the aust spec ECU is unique--this suggests some tuning differences. Can one of the GT4 experts confirm what rear diff they used on both 185 & 205 models--I was led to believe it was unique but a guy bought one to me recently to check over and it was just an ordinary 7.1" size torsen LSD, but the spline was not like any other toyota I have seen , otherwise nothing special at all by the look.

The oz spec ecu's on standard gt4's like mine are lower rated than the JDM version - The group A is identical thru out the world . Standard spec 185 oz cars were detuned lightly to compensate for the lower octane fuels we run ( 95-96 ron ) - JDM ones were tuned to run proper 98 ron and get the benifits from it ( timing curve is a little different i beleive too )
Standard JDM and oz spec st185 ECU's were mapped for 13-14 psi boost limit , Group a's run 17psi on a higher mapping
As before this adequates to about 5kw difference at the wheels in favour of the JDM 185's
ive confirmed with neal bates motorsport ( neal himself ) that the Rear diffs in the oz spec Gt4 is exactly the same to the group A 185 and 205 diffs .. bar mounting points to suit the 205 body the rear diff setup are identical. he also pointed out that the autralian st185's got the steel shafted ct26's ( same as group A ) instead of the ceramic jobbies on the JDM
Hope that helps terry

Sorry but the dump pipe is staying with the engine at this stage which is still for sale. Just drove up to Bathurst and back and she ran like a dream, 10km/l economy cruising thru the twisty back roads.
If anyone wants pics email me direct

Hey all,
I've tried to send pics to all that emailed me direct but some kept bouncing. Kinda lost track of who's who with all the interest but if you haven't seen a pic you can assume you were a bouncer
It's not sold as yet but it's down to who come's up with some money 1st. Happy to take a holding deposit but if so consider it a definite sale.
