Hi,
Um how much would a Beams 3sge be worth, and is the engine designed in a way so that it is easy enough to run turbine on at a later stage? And what the hell does the Beams mean. I know it is in the Altezza.
How much is a 3rd gen 3sgte worth and butting it to the right box would it fit in an ae86 as it is a 4wd setup initially.

The 11:1+ compression and light internals mean its probably not the best engine for foreced induction without a lot of reworking.

Obviously it is meant to run optimum N/A.
Thanks for that!

Beams stands for Breakthrough Engine with Advanced Mechanism System, or for us mere mortals....Bought Engine Another Mortgage.
And yes, the lightweight reciprocating internals, 11.1 comp. ratio and VVTLi do not lend themselves to turbocharging.
If you want this motor so you can mount it inline in a RWD car, its good, but needs high revs to work and is $$$. Better off cost wise to go a 3S-GTE from an MR2 Turbo. And if you really want to impress this list and spend $$$, buy a 3S GE Beams block and add the GTE head and turbo. Now that would be a project.
Mitch.

If it were me, I'd be leaving the head as it is, but getting new pistons made up to lower the compression. A lot of Honda's in the States, like them or not are making big power with their VTEC + turbo setups.

hmm, google is your friend.
google for "altezza RS200" and you wil find engine specs.
google for "BEAMS 3SGE" and you will out more about things like valve materials etc etc....
and if you google for "altezza half cut" on google 'Aus'
you will find prices for them.
c'mon, it aint that hard
Cya, Stewart
btw, the answers are 210Nm@6400, 210ps@7500, titanium, $6000-8000

thanks, i try
the BEAMS 3SGE is to the 3SGE, what the 4AG 20 valve is to the 4AG 16valve.
it's basically a tuned, optimised NA motor with a cam, but ith the advantage of a smaller cam profile for low revs. it's an awesoem piece of work, but is a lot of cash. then again, it's about the most you could get out of an NA 3SGE without stupid amounts of work, so, in a way, you are paying for a modded motor... and it comes with a 6 speed
