so rex, are you going to give it a go?? ![Very Happy](images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif)
it does look interesting, but kinda scary...
any ideas on converting a MIG to TIG? theres some difference between the initial current or voltage that i haven't been aboe to work out if they can be converted.....
reminds me of Mcgyver (sp?) when he cut his wail thru some jail bars with a car battery, a pair of jumper cables, and a quarter ![Wink](images/smiley_icons/icon_wink.gif)

Mmmm, even though rex already has a couple of welders, Im considering giving this thing a go just for a laugh.
As for the safety aspect...
Funeral insurance is about $2 a week and we all gotta die someday, so why not by half arsed welder accident. There are more boring ways to go

i think with something this crazy, you don't die, you become the source of some urban legend about a guy who fronts up to casualty ward of the local hospital with serious burns on his dick - due in part to having built himself a home-made welder with absolutely no safety features ... <the rest being made up as the story gets a life of its own>
