Air Cleaner for 1G/GTE/GZE AFM Thu, 20 November 2003 02:49 Go to next message
Need help please.

Can anyone suggest a common Australian market car that has as air cleaner that the 1G-GZE AFM bolts straight up too ?

(Can't get a paper element, find a good place to bolt the original airbox, nor do I have the other plastic pipes to run air up into the thing...don't want to go a pod filter either.)

Thanks,
Mitch.

Hi

Assuming things are the same as a 1ggte the element is no problem it is the same as a similar year Cressida and Jackeroo - if you do decide to use this drop me a line and I will give you the number. If you hav a xA23/28 the AFM and airfilter fits real nice behind the RHS headlight - you just have to shift the washer and overflow bottles. Look at the wreckers, I think a ta22 gives an alternate location. You won't need the piping as there is heaps of cool airflow.

Craig,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I will check out Cressida and Jackaroo elements at Supercheap etc, but a number would help me for sure. Thanks.
I'm hoping that the GTE air box is the same is the GZE, which is a short round barrel shape. The oval shaped hole at the bottom worries me a bit as I would like to run a pipe from it, but if it drops into the right place, I will just stick some mesh across the inside of it to keep the big bits out. i asked the question because the air 'barrel' is missing one of the four captive threaded collars that the AFM screws into, and I'm thinking about replacing it.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Gidday

Dabbid has given the correct number for the element.

I was going to post a picture of my installation - not necessary - look in the 'for sales' and Dabbid has a photo of his 1ggte AE86 that shows where to mount the airfilter.
