 Stereo no go :(

Hey people
I got my car back on tuesday and for some reason my stero doesnt work theres no pwer at all to it (WTF?) it worked before it got fixed (the engine) but now it just doesnt work.
Would it be a fuse?, because my interior light doesnt work either?
any suggestions?
The cd player is only like 4 months old so it cant be broke.

Could be a fuse, have you got a multimeter? Or even a test light.
Check all your fuses, then check for power at the head unit itself and work back from there if it doesn't have any.
The head unit will have a constant 12V line and an accessories 12V line as well, so check both of them.

Try the 12V constant wire. usually goes to the battery so if the engine has come out maybe so has the wire. What about other accessories are they all working or is it just the dome light?

its weird my lights work and so do the dash lights but not the stereo or the interior light i think the power that goes to the stereo is on the same feed as the interior light
where would the 12 volt wire go to exactly?

Maybe to the fuse box then ?? Seen that done a fair bit.

Depends on who installed it, Some people run a new wire to the battery (that wouldn't effect the light) by the sound of it it is running off the light loom after the fues. Check the int light fuse.

some how i lost the plastic surrond for the fusebox so i dont know what fuse does what i think i'll pm GT he should have one.

It will be a fuse.
The interior lights and stereo trigger are usually on the same circuit.
Just pull each fuse out, and look at it.
It will most likely be a 10 or 15 amp fuse.

i'll go down to super cheap at lunch and buy some see if it works, theres a wire with a fuse in it thats hooked up to the loom that goes tot the stereo i dont know what it does but would that fck it?

ps. the good part is i get to admire the throaty sound of my engine

Most stereos come with fuses inline on the power wires, so it would definately be worth checking.
No probs to the other, i'll PM you later.

Good point, but its hard to test if A) you dont smoke, and B) you dont have any ciggie lighter accessories.
My guess would be that while it was in the shop, something was fiddled with somewhere (descriptive i know) and THEY shorted something out.
But hey, its always a guess
