i have a blown head gasket on my 7mgte , i was wondering if im better of spending a little extra for the 1jz conversion. im up for about $1200 for the head gasket to be fixed. im wondering how much the whole 1j conversion should cost me. i was told i can still use my 5 speed out of the 7m, i just got to change the bell housing. but it all comes down to cash aswell. if i can get my loan refinanced i might get the 1 j.

you'll need a whole front cut, with uncut loom & ecu
will need the dump pipes off your turbos altered.
the IC piping should all fit in nicely (from the half cut).
the bellhousing will not be as cheap as you may imagine, but if you get the half cut (which you'll need for the intercooler etc) then you'll have the 1jz gbox.

doing everything yourself, and shopping around for decent prices, $4000 would be fairly close.

so after all that, you'll be able to sell your 7m, sell your IC and piping, sell your gbox, sell the ecu

You could spend up to $10,000. If you did it yourself, a lot cheaper.

1JZ
ECU
Wiring
Fuel Pump
Thermo Fans
Bellhousing
New dump pipe

I'd fix the head and get a metal head gasket. Then spend the money on a bigger single turbo and other additions to the engine.

It all depends if you have your own garage or not. I didn't, and I couldnt even get my car down the driveway.

Goodluck.

Having an R154 gearbox is the easy part, getting a 1JZ bellhousing is the hard part!! Dellow will make one for around $500, but the whole lot will be over $1000 including flywheel, new slave to suit, thrust bearing and carrier, fork etc. then add the price of a clutch, although I think you would have no problems using the 7mgte one.
