Are they gonna start charging everyone with a personalised plate the annual fee??? When I bought mine they stated $192 once off fee or something like that so I suppose if they try to charge me I'll have to kick some RTA towellheads arse...

i think they charge the ones you choose the letters for and numbers, so your next renewal you'd probably be hit with $100 annual fee.

i dont think they will charge those of us who have already got our plates. if so i will demand my money back since i was quoted a once-off payment and generally kick up a big stink just for the hell of it

Perhaps u missed this bit
Quote: | Other
Exchange $50 one-off
Storage $50 annual fee
Cancellation fee $32 one-off
Move to another registry $18 one-off
Bike rack number plate $30 one-off
|
And I'm glad Perth hasn't done that shit yet, tho, after reading that, I'm sure they will one day, and on that day, I shall say my plates were stolen, and just buy some standard ones. Coz there is not FUCKING way, I am paying anyone more money for keeping my car on the road. Personal Plates are awesome to have, but not that awesome

They obviously are greedy pigs who can't get enough money no matter what they do.
Last time I checked, putting plates on hold was $22 per year... now $50 ? What a load of crap.
And if they do start charging me for the personalised lettering (3 chars, 2 nums, 1 char) I have on my plates, they'll never hear the end of it.
I think we live in a country where we sit back and take everything that is dished out to us, whether we like it or not. Perhaps it's time we stood up for some fairness, cos increasing prices for something that costs them bugger all to produce and have no real basis for increasing the price isn't fair on us.

dont flame for this
NSW SUCKS, we have a once off fee, and thats it, none of this annual fee crap, what if u have full personal plates {YUM E} and u forget to pay, someone else can have them?????????
here in QLD we buy them and we can keep them forever and no "holding fee", my old ones are up on my wall {wifes old initials} my mother bought plates "BEAUT" in 1987 and only paid like $1000 for 'em and has had 'em on 4 different cars
move to QLD

I think they need to advise the people that have personal plates
ie 3 letters, 2 numbers, letter on their own selection that they have changed the pricing cause my Girlfriend is going to absoloutly spit if she has to pay an extra hundred bucks for her plate. F@#K the RTA is greedy.
Good to see that this got through without the public being aware of it.

i dont think it would, cause ive paid my $190 for the plate under the agreement that it would be the only payment so i dont think they can charge anually, only charge a $50 transfer fee.
