any one out there got some sort of figures for the power increase of fitting a larger front pipe straight off the turbos?
atm i jsut have a 3 inch cat-back on my 1g supra...would it be worth the cost? if so 3 inch or just 2.5 inch?
cheers

Bigger the better for turbo motors, i'd go with the 3" straight of the turbo's. I personally feel that mandrel bends aren't worth the gains for a 2litre motor but hey if you can afford it go 4 it. Thats my view anyway

Mandrel bends will cost fuck-all extra for a job like this. Generally they'll use pre-fabricated bends and weld them together, and this doesn't cost much to do.

Definitely use mandrel bends for your dump pipes. Your first metre of exhaust is so important, I wouldn't compromise it with press bent constrictions.

is there enough room in a 1G supra to let you have two separate dump pipes from the two turbos (instead of the factory cast thing that points the outlet gasses at each other!?)?
i vaguely recall seeing this done to 1J's but if the engine bay's anything like a celica RAxx with a 1G transplant, there's not enough room on the exhaust side to squeeze off a falafel-chillie-and-tabouli fart - let a lone have two dump pipes that side step around each other for the first 20-40cm.

Yes it's common with 1JZ's, but the turbos are too close together on a 1G to do the same thing. That said, you're going to hit the flow limit of the turbos long before the factory Y pipe becomes a restriction, so don't worry too much about it.

actually there was a guy on the forums that went to the trouble of making a custom manifold and seperate dump pipes. so that both turbos were facing forwards.. (still using the standard turbos)
apparently it worked quite well.
but if you ask me.. if your going to go to that much trouble wouldnt you use a different turbos?
