Guys, this is the best street racing game i have laid my hands on. Friggen awesome. Spent the last 3 days playing it. Sooooooo much fun. And the graphics are seriously incredible. If any of you have an xbox, go out and get it. If you dont have an xbox, then bad luck.

Not really, the xbox is large, has the most uncomfortable controller around, and yes, I have large hands and I still hate it, and doesn't have nintendo first party games which I would rather have over sony or ms first party games any day of the week and twice on sunday

it is true the xbox is big, but by the time you buy yourself 30 memory sticks for all your saved games on the ps2 and an ethernet adaptor for online play they are pretty close, and yet still the ps2 can't record all your cds for use as soundtracks..
but I don't wanna start a fight here, as me and gtman get along (to this point ) no but I was just thinking, but the time you have gone and got all the accessories they are maybe not all that different.
the xbox now comes with a smaller controller too..
but I still don't like microsoft. I try not to remember that the xbox is made my them

yeah I was thinking Rob, you're a Mac boy, watcha doin with an xbox?
PS2's can blow me as well, I can't believe people where paying over 1000 to get them when they were brand new. The launch games were not even that good for crying out loud. I will be getting a ps2 eventually for GT4, which will own pgr2 with online play, and VF4. Nothing really on xbox tells me to buy it really. Only recently Top Spin tennis. I'm such a tennis game whore.
I bought my cube on day -1 for 330, which they stayed at for over a year. I've got 17 games, with another 15 or so in my immediate wishlist, and I've convinced 3 other mates and bought one for my bro to, and all of them have not regretted the purchase. I recommend everyone get a cube, they are just too damn good and too cheap at the mo, they are 150 in EB, rock on

hmmm well ok, I had that in my head somehow.
things I don't know. BUT PGR2 has very cool online play! each to his own. I have a mac, I am used to copping crap about my choices of technology.
the ps2 is like a classic car, speaking of cars, it might be fastish, look nice, have cult appeal, but it is old skool, but that is just how I see it. the whole anti-microsoft thing (which I buy into having a Mac ) is cool, but when it comes down to it, the product is just better, I can't help it if microsoft made it.
oh, BTW, the people who made Halo were mac developers before they got bought by microsoft to make the big release title, freaky... noooooo
games are coming, the ps took a while go get real popular, so I understand where you are coming from dude!

Yeah, Bungie sold out big time. Apparently Halo on PC runs choppy even on high end cards. I remember demo's of it where apparently running really smooth on then quite mid-ranged cards when it was still on PC.
ah well.
No Shraka, no GT4 for PC. GT has never been on anything other then PS. unless you were running GT or GT2 on Bleem! or GT2 on Bleemcast! which looked really nice actually
Don't get me wrong, I think MS has done some really smart things with the xbox, and I think it is a window to the next gen of consoles, with inbuilt ethernet and inbuilt HDD. I just don't like a) the size of the thing (I mean physical size, you can literally fit 4 cubes on top of an xbox) b) the controller, at.all. and c) microsoft
Like I said, I think it is a window on the future, and so is xblive, I reckon its heaps better having a uniform setup, but I just reckon that Sony and especially Nintendo will do it better in the next gen.
And I still find it funny that Sony sell more PSOnes per week then MS do xbox's in japan
And I still find it sad that Sony are the market leaders with completely inferior hardware and a controller that has had no major design rethinks since the snes days
[edit]
and only two controller ports

Hmmm. Interesting.
About the size issue, yeah it is a lot bigger, but my thoughts are, "How often to I move it?" Not that often at all, so size really isnt a matter. And I love being able to burn my CD's onto the HD and use my own songs in games. As for pulling it down by accident, the controller leads have this wonderful invention of a 2 piece cord (hard to explain) that basically means that that will come apart before the console comes down.
And as for games, well, it's personal choice really. If you like the games that are on the ps2 then get them. Same with NGC. However I do believe that there is no denying that the xbox has by far the best graphics capabilities. Take for example Half-Life2. That is coming out on the xbox next year, but the Ps2 and NGC will not be able to run it. They are bringing out another "version" of it for the PSX (or whatever it's going to be called).
Controls? Each to his own. Even different xbox people hate the original controls. That is why they came out with the smaller conrollers.
So basically we could go on about the merits and problems with each of the consoles until the cows come home, but in the end it all comes down to personal preferance.

I agree you can argue till the cows come home, very true. For the controller cord thing, I never understood that at.all. If I yank my cube controller, the cord comes out, so I personally never saw the point of a purpose built 'detaching' section
And for the carrying around, I often cart mine over to mates houses, so size is fantastic, especially the carry handle

Ah. Yeah the size would be helpful. I have taken mine a few places and have a bag for it, but I admit, it is friggen heavy to carry around.
As for the cord, the xbox controllers stay in pretty firmly and if you did give them a yank (like trip over them or something) it is possible they would pull the system down.

I think it would take quite a bit to pull the box over as MS have installed in line quick release connectors on all of the original controllers.
I think the PS2 is poorly designed in that if you sit the unit on the carpet they fill up with dust REALLY quickly and are not as serviceable as the XBOX and if you use the vertical stand for the PS2 its not very stable and will fall over if your little brother or younger relative plays with it (you know how they all seem to think that you have to move your whole body to get the car/guy/whatever in the game to move)

i got a ps2 mainly for one thing: the gt series, whatever people say, i still think the gt series has the most realistic car handling simulation algorithm.
on a next gen note:

I've got my own theories about that. Anyone who has played Star Fox Adventures will know that while rare's art style is fantastic, they lost the magic ability to create addictive games. Even DK64 was a massive disappointment in terms of playability. What alot of people think happen as well is that MS bought rare from ninty, they didn't. Nintendo sold their share in rare back to themselves, so rare effectively became third party, then rare sold themselves to MS.
Taking off the rose coloured glasses and visiting planet reality Nintendo did the best thing. Rare are a well respected name but their last games took a helluva long time to make, (SFA took 4 years) and they had lost their magic touch, so they where right to cut them

And if you get Zelda:WW you get 2 games free, including arguably the best game ever, Zelda:TOoT
