just a new bulb dude. there are 2 filaments in your average headlight bulb. one for low and one for high.
usually the low one goes first because it gets the most use..

get a H4 globe.
check your headlights are actually legal, so you can get rego.
my trueno had blue globes in the headlights, so for that, and some other reasons, my car didn't pass inspection. i didn't even think of that...

Along similar lines - my high beams don't work . Just wondering if high and low beams are on the same fuse? (don't want to go and buy headlights/bulbs if I don't need them! <- big time tightarse! )

I got some Narva Artic Blue headlights (55w/80w) which while much whiter than the standard bulbs arent really that bright on dark streets.
Going to get some Artic Blue 80w/120w to replace them as soon as they come in. Hopefully they should do the job a little better as driving around on almost all the backstreets on high beam is kind of stupid.

go and buy a cheap multimeter.. Jaycar have them from $12, abotu the same price as a bulb, and you'll never have to wonder about fuses or globes ever again
take out your globe, test for continuity on both bulb filaments. if that is ok, test for voltage at the bulbe connector. then actually look at your fuses to see if any of them are blown..

trueno's came with bulbs and surrounds.
you can't run arctic blues, because they dont comply with ADR's, therefore your car wont pass inspection.
you can go to any repco, supercheaps, k-mart, autobarn, etc. to get globes. go in to repco, and just ask for some H4 globes, in standard white. dont get the ones which are good in the wet, or have blue glass, or any shit like that.
to the best of my knowledge, the only ones that comply are normal white ones, 60/55w or something...
also, your car being a kouki, you'll need to change your front parkers to clear from orange.
the easiest way to do this is to get some normal 5w bayonet globes and put them in the cornering lights, and wire it so they come on as the parkers.

I was wondering if you could change the parkers as they are orange compared to pure white of the headlights.

heh heh, better keep that in your glovebox
but not the 80W/120 packet, as the legal LIMIT for headlights is 55W for low beam. if you have decent lenses, 55W is quite resonable for city driving.

I had a set of those globes in a Commodore (it was my mums car and she bought the globes, truly!), Mr Plod too exception to it, I showed him the packet, he didn't give a rats arse and threatened to write a canary for the car. Damn I felt like an idiot not only for driving a Commodore, but for getting told off about headlight colour (This is the kind of thing I REALLY TRY TO AVOID!)

Umm are you guys thinking of the same ones as I am talking of?
They are called artic blue but the light produced is crystal clear white. Unlike the normal lights which produce an orange light.

I use Philips Blue Vision and if i Get pulled over, i can say to the police officer that the parking lights in his car is "yellow" thus he should give himself a yellow canary as my lights are white as a sheet of Reflex Paper...
Though I don't know if Philips Blue Vision ADR approved.
Cheers.

according to the friendly ppl at regency park, SA, who keep moving the goalposts, they dont comply.
i know this, because i had them in my car when i went to get australian rego, and they knocked my back for it.
the cornering lights are the clear ones on the outer corners of the front bar. they are supposed to come on, and stay on when you indicate at night, so that you can see 'around' the corner.
you dont 'have' to have this feature, so, make them your front parkers.

as long as there are no orange lights on at the front, when you have your parkers on....there will be no probs. if you've wired it up, and the orange ones do come on...just pull the globes out
