I've got no battery in my key remote, does anyone know what battery I can put in it?

I'm referring to the central locking key.

Cheers
Paul

As far as i know the Soarer's never came with keyless entry as standard?

You may need to chase up what brand alarm/keyless system you have and get the info through them

P.S My car has an aftermarket alarm and keyless entry system

Okay they types of batteries that most remote locking things take are :-

  • If the battery space is round and could fit a batttery the size of a 20c coin the battery will be either a CR2032, CR2025, CR2016 or CR1616
  • If the size for the battery space is more cylindrical(like a AAA or something) but smaller thenthe battery will be a 23A(sometimes called A23) or a 27A

Just take it to your local Dick Smith or Jaycar and if they are in a nice mood they'll stick batteries in till they get one that fits.

Well mines definately standard, and another soarer I looked at had the same key.

The button is built into the key.

And btw, on the steering shroud, what the hell is the little button on the right, near the indicators. It's on the plastic.

It's about as round as a 5c piece, but about as flat as one too...

I'll take the key down to tricky dicky.

I got a battery that fits, but it doesn't work.

And I can't work out what that bloody button means.

5c piece sounds like a CR1616, sometimes when its that battery that take 2 batteries, stacked ontop of each other. If you've only got 1 in there then it might have only 1.5V instead of the 3 it needs, but again I'm guessing. If it only fits 1 battery, try cleaning the contacts(light sratch with a screwdriver or scourer to get off any corrosion or residue). Possibly the button in the remote is dead. Thats the best I can think of....
