Broken RA60 :'(

Well today, on a 3 min drive from my house, i was going too fast around a roundabout and thwack, front and rear wheels went whoopsies over the curb.
rims damaged, and the rear wheel seems buckled- it rubs against the inside body when driving, and thus cannot be driven. luckily, the roundabout was next to my mechanic.
whats wrong with my baby? mechanic says could be bent/wreck axle housing....
im just hoping its not truely fucked....
much sadness. the days of the bronze warrior being invulnerable are coming to an end. poor bronze warrior.

Most likely a bent trailing arm, but you may have bent the axle as well if it was a big enough hit. Either way it's not too hard to bolt in a replacement from the wreckers.

you should be able to source a rear end for the bronze nugget fairly easily ...
Might be a fair bit of spanner work to swap it over though - as i havent personally swapped a rear end in a celica yet.
Shouldnt be overly expensive either if you do the work yourself, or majority thereof..
if i see an ra60 about for parts - ill let u know

thanks y'all, tis really hepful.
thankfully, the mechanic is friends of the family, and the bronze warrior is back and as tough as ever. needed new axle, new wheel stuff, new bearings, new alloy and i need to get it balanced. all up it cost me about 270 so thats not bad.
im just glad its back and i didnt completely fuck it.

yep. took him for a drive tonight, there was a strange droning/grinding noise.....
it appears my muffler/exhaust has been bent, and am now left with a strange exhaust note. ah well. the bronze warrior fights on unscarred and unaffected by the trends
and my confidence is shot to the shithouse

in all honesty - if your ra60 has a great clean body , and everythings still in good order ( except said diff issues which youd swap anyway to handle a 1ggte push ) youd be better off with a 1ggte setup like what nark has done .. Not only will it have a mega sleeper value - they go like stink too !
ma61's are good - but unless you buy one with a turbo or later model motor - the performance power wise is pretty ordinary.
weigh up what you want .. old school Sexy body that will love to be modified later on ( ie 1jz 2jz 7mgte swap ) - or performance in a sleeper shell ..
Also work to how much are you willing to spend to get what you want ..!
for example by the time you tweak up a ma61 to get it moving - you may have been able to afford say an MA70 - which has all the goodness in there already and parts wise - assumably easier to source.

thanks stu, thats pretty much what i was thinking about.
its just if i did the 1g-gte swap, id get someone to do it (i dont know shit about mechanics, and have nowhere to do it)
if i got an ma61, id do the swap in a few years, learning how to do it myself and maybe move out so ill have a shed...
and plus, on the rare occasion that i see an ma61 drive past im like this....
theres something about them that makes me go mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
