Is it as slow as all buggery?
It could be the starfire 4 used in late torana's/early commodores, could replace it with a 202 perhaps?

it is not a v6 it is a inline 6 sohc 3 litre (RB30). and if this fits then the RB25 DET and the RB26DETT will also fit as most nissan 6 bangers have the same bottom end. Personal i would go with the RB25DET as it is dohc.

Sorry dude, VL's never came with V6's from the factory, just the RB30E or the RB30ET, and of course the 5-litre V8
What would be the point of swapping for a V6 when the RB20's and RB25's are so cheap and easy to do??
If the a nissan 6 will fit go the RB20DET, they're damn cheap...

I'd like pics too.
If it's a holden V6 then it prob says 3800 on the plenum (on the top) this is out of all commodores from '89 (VN) onwards. The VN had 2 types, one made by Buick, this had one of the radiator hoses comming from the back of the engine (it was a east-west eingine in the states) and made more power than eny of the others.
the V6 won't fit into your corona eaisly....

all i need is a thermatic, i've seen it done at a motorshow, the radiator was offset like 5 cm, but he did that by bending the mounts, its fairly easy....
and id it possible that the dealership my bro went to swapped badges and vin... this is seriously bad news, coz my bros car could be a chop chop

OK, there are several possibilities here: 1. you don't know the difference between a V6 and an inline six 2. your brother's car is a VN or later Commodore (which come with V6's), not a VL (which come with Nissan inline 6's) 3. your brother's car has had an engine swap done at some point in its life.
1 and 2 are likely, 3 is quite unlikely!
Note that the Holden engine found in a Corona is based on the Holden 202 inline six, which has no relateionship to the Nissan-based RB30 inline 6 found in the VL Commodore, OR the Buick-based V6 found in the VN and later Commodore. Toyota called this engine the 1X, Holden called it the Starfire, most people call it the Misfire.

1. How do you know it's a V6? Explain how it's different to an inline 6. 2. I've been around microwave ovens all my life, but I don't have a clue how they work. To put it another way, that means jack-shit. 3. That means the car has a factory-fitted engine. VL's never came with a V6 from the factory, so 1 or 2 must be true.

I've seen the car Its a VL for sure, no mistaking it And norbie if you really wanna know about microwaves just think of the name....micro-waves...yes it operates by using microwaves(kinda like a radio signal) anways the wavelengths correspond with somthing to do with water molecules and get them jostling....anyways FRICTION HAPPENS(somone doesnt use KJ ) and yeah friction causes heat which causes hot food
Oh and if you want some fun get a costered CD or that dodgie old Phil Collins one you just so happen to keep listening to by accident...."errrr it was my dad?".....and chuck it in the micowave for a few seconds...nice lightning show

Well, I had the same model, XT130 Station wagon, until recently (stolen!). I fitted a 22R hilux engine from my wrecked ute and celica 5-spd as a cheap run around, all bolted straight in. the Shitfire was then freshened up and thrown into a mates KE20 Corolla. Now I would be looking at a 1GGTE or something since there have been many bolt-in conversions done to a hilux which will fit since both my hilux and the corona shared the same mounts....

my mate had an xt130 wagon - he caned the shitter out of it manually shifting it and went thru about 3 autos in two years - it used to use heaps of oil as it had no sump gasket so he just kept filling it up so it always had clean oil. it was caned for years like this - was stacked a couple of time we had to panel beat the bonnet by jumping up and down on it - was truly a funny bloody car it didn't handle at all it got caned to death but was infamous!
it ended up throwing a rod (believe it or not) i think it eventually ran out of oil and he kinda forgot..

My mate had a n15 turbo nissan pulsar. We got a hands on a brand new engine and a bigger turbo so decided to have a bit of fun with the old one. One went the bigger turbo and hmm about 22 psi of boost and away we go. went fine for about a month and we went for a cruise up the local range (hill climb). Anyway half way up we broke a rod just under the piston head and the road went round and seperated the block into 2 pieces. the only thing holding it together was the head.
