I've got an optimus sub here - 50W rms, I'm curious to know what sort of quality it is. I've never heard of optimus (never a good start), but I'm looking at sticking it in the back of the supra.
yes, I realise 50rms isn't a huge amount, but it's enough to get a good sound out of

Yeah, your right 50wrms is pathetic!
I'd say its not even worth trying Greg.
I'd say its more for home use (is it 4 or 8 ohms?)
A friend had Optimus fornt speakers a few years back
Cost him about 300 for the pair I think
But I'd you'd be better off getting a $40 stratties job, of better yet, get something decent
But hey, bass is bass if you have none

Free is definately free, but cheap sub = headache in my opinion, but then again, I'm used to quality bass, so listening to a cheap sub gives me the shits.
Just keep the gains waaaay down low, and don't go buying an amp just to run it, buy a decent amp (if you haven't already got one) for the future subs

well, I'm not a bass person (in the techno boom box sense of the word)
but, alas, I LOVE quality music, so I know if I did install it it'd just be temporary till I could get a great sub

Fair nuff, just cut up some mdf, nail it together, whack the sub if, and velcro it to the floor
Alternatively, mock up a dodgy backshelf, cut a hole in it, and whack the sub in that. gotta love liftbacks

Optimus = Tandy/Radio Shack Home Brand
They arnt anything special, but they arn't horrible either. Your going to need an additional amp to run it properly, that will make this little project probably cost more than you planned. If you do ever need a good, cheap sub the Jaycar "Respose" range is good value for money.

anyone who quotes anyhting but RMS either has penis size issues or no idea what they're talking about
if I did install it, it's be with a good quality amp, so further down the track I could just put in a good sub

I think that they should also sell megatron subs at subway too. With a choice of energon dressing.

If you're going to make a box for the crap sub make the volume to suit the one you will eventually get. ie: who gives a shit if it's slightly wrong for the Optimus so long as you don't have to go building another box in a few months time. Just a thought. I am a lazy bastard.
