heys uys - i came across this when looking for info on my group A intercooler adaptor ..

Not only does this site say i have the 55mm throttle body - but it could be telling me i have a group A ( or RC in JDM spec )gearbox , though not homologation model ( which got the 3.9 jobby )..

Im REALLY confused here:

from the page :

ST185

E150F Normal early ST185 gearbox. Identified by the cast steel clutch fork.

E151F RC gearbox. Improved dual cone synchros. Fitted with 3.933 final drive in all homologation models. This gearbox may have also been fitted to other post 91 facelift ST185's. Not sure on their specification though.

E152F I believe that this is the gearbox from the Japan only GT-Four Rally model. This has different ratios.

My gearbox code is an e151f !

Does this mean i already have the upgraded gearbox in my gt4 - as i have diff and turbo specs ?

I thought the stocko Gt4 only had single syncros in the gears not duelies , and its also longer shod in the gearing than the RC's and 205's. either way ill still get my 205 gearbox - id just like to clarify this some more for those out there- handy for toyota not to stamp any details on the boxes !

Did toyota slip in extra goodies into the oz ones we dont know about ?

heres the page anyway that i got the info off

looking at ...

recent or upcoming purchases awaiting installation:
Group A bumper ready to go on.
Group A water to air intercooler and bonnet on its way from japan!
Group A gearbox ( mmm short ratio and stronger ! )
Aussie exhausts 3 inch Dump pipe + midpipe ( in australia post right now ! )
WolfEMS Ecu
J and E Forged pistons

Nearing completion of Evolution One

its seems you have already decided what you have so why ask

this is why ..

So far i have found that the autralian st185's have a lot more parts from the RC Spec cars from japan - then the actual stock jdm model

Ie the steel turbo instead of the ceramic item , and the same torsen LSD rear end as the group a ( neal bates motorsport clarified this )

For imformations sake im trying to Clarify what else toyota australia have slipped into the Australian spec Gt4 for other owners of them, so they know what they actually have instead of second guessing ..

Toyota Australia have little to no idea on their books of what the cars actually have in them - handy that Smile ..

Plus im also planning on selling the gearbox i have to regather some of the funds - so id like to know what the potential buyer is getting ,if its a upgraded Gearbox - or something less equipped ..

as for what i have - I have a st205 gearbox hopefully coming to me from a front cut that a friend of mine is getting for a clubman car - they cant use the gearbox in it so ill be snapping that up when it arrives ..

The st205 box is the best choice because of the better ratios and the viscous LSD they have. they are also meant to be stronger than the rest , and have been upgraded further over the st185 group a Item

I hope that clears up your question

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but Stu, can you confirm your original gearbox was an E151F? Additionally did you count your rear diff ratio out to 3.933 also, or was it 4.285?
