Hi All,
Having some issues getting my car to start, and stay started, like all fun problems its intermittant.
You can start the car, it'll rev for like a sec and then just turn itself off, NB. it doesn't stall, just turns off.
The other half of the time, its starts 1st go, no problems.
This problem seems to be fixed by jiggling the key in the ignition barrel and then she'll start sweet.
After a quick chat to my mech. he thinks its probably not a bad idea to change the igntion barrel. Is changing one of these particularliy hard, and does that mean I need a new key to fit the ign barrel or is the barrel after the locking mechanism?
Also are the IGN barrels on RA2X & TA2X interchangable, and does anyone have a steering column or ign barrel they want to sell?
Thanks, Nath

just so u know.. its easy to change the barrel...
U just take the plastic surroundings off so u can get to it.. then with your key on ACC , push in the little pin on top and it will slide out.
Make sure you have the new barrel with key in it on ACC when you put it in.
YEs you will need new keys.. but if u have central locking, who cares. Usually if u go to a wreckers u can get the barrel, and the 3 other locks for a 22 for about $50 if that.
Cheers.

you will probably find that it is just the switch and not the barrel that is stuffed.
On the RA28's it is just a rotary switch that is attached to the back of the lock barrel. You can get them through most parts places, I think I got mine through Pacific Spares at Asquith.
No point changing the lock barrel and getting a new key if it is still locking.
