Hey, i am looking into putting a turbo engine into my NA Auto (i know..) Supra, was wondering if the Auto's from the turbo's were the same gear box as in the NA's, or is the auto from the turbo's a stronger version? (7MGE-7MGTE) I haven't got the money to do the conversion at the moment, but wondering if i will need to change the gear box as well, i know i should go for a manual, but might do it in stages as i save up the funds. Any info would be good, ta

Yes the turbo boxes are stronger. If you can afford it you'd be mad not to do a manual conversion at the same time!

Ahhh ok, thanks Norbie, yeah i know.. I'll have to do the manual at the same time, just have to wait longer to get it done. I'll be in canberra by the time i have enough money to get it done (as i'm not the best with doing things myself), pretty paranoid about giving my car just to any mechanic to do the job when i do get it done, any one know people in canberra that really know what they are doing when it comes to conversions? I know sooo many dodgy mechanics in darwin.. would HATE to give my car anyone like that. So if any one could recomend someone in canberra, that would be good. Thanks.

Well I know for a fact they have a different stall ratio, so that's a pretty big difference right there. Just because they have the same model code doesn't mean much; my 2JZ-GTE auto is an A340E as well and I'd be very surprised if it was identical!
