Timing Chain?

Hey Guys,
Car - Corona 22R-E
I blew a head gasket a week back and had to get the head sent away to get checked and tested. $1100 later...(yes more work then just the head was done)
This problem has been happening for a while now and seems to be not getting any better, when I turn the car on, especially in the mornings, theres a rattling for about 5 to 10 secs.
But lately, the car has been having some serious issues while starting, it'll spitter and spatter and will conk and die quite a few times with and without the accelerator in. That also seems to be getting worse and worse.
Could this be the timing chain??

Yes. 22R's are known for wearing right through the timing cover and opening a hole in a coolant gallery when the timing chain stretches too much. Inspect and replace ASAP!

Ok just rang up mechanic and he said yep the rattling sound and why it goes away in 5 to 10 secs is because theres no oil pressure at the start then once theres oil pressure the hydrolic chain tensioned tensions up the chain, there fore the noise goes away.
Also, hes unsure (over the phone) why it doesn't start easily. He suggested putting some injector cleaner in to the fuel because they may be blocked up. Or taking it to a place where they can scan/talk to my computer to see what error codes its bringing up.
