1jz Fueling Mon, 29 July 2002 00:14 Go to next message
Hey guys, A while ago i had a problem with the 1jz in a Soarer blowing black smoke and running rough at idle. Yous suggested getting the injectors cleaned. Still havnt had a chance to do this, but now i've noticed a few more things. Occasionally when stopping at red lights the revs drop to 500, and the engine vibrates. Also before when power is turned on in the car, the fuel pump can be heard (as far as i know its the pump) for a few seconds. This doesnt happen anymore. When the engine is started the same noise can then be heard, but its heaps louder, and lasts for a fair while.

Any more help would be greatly appreciated. Sound like i need a new fuel pump while im at it? The car now has nearly 198,000 kms on it.

My 1jz-gte used to do that, and i didnt know what it was, and as part of my upgrade i have installed after market injection now, and in the tuning process today, discovered i have a stuffed fuel press reg, it would work sometimes, and othertimes not, instead of increasing pressure, would drop pressure.

I put a malpassi rising rate reg (1:1) in place of it, much better!

Excellent. Thanks alot for the help. Had plans this weekend to put a Profec B and maybe a front mount intercooler, but i think i might put this off for a couple of weeks to get these issues sorted out.

I Have had the exact same problems with my JZA70 Supra. Mine will sit there and idle really low and eventually stalls. I didnt even THINK of the fuel pressure/pump being the problem, ive been assuming it was electrical all along.

How have you gone with this, if you get any headway on it let us know dude. :\
