can anyone supply me with the oil pressure figure the tranny runs? does anyone know the factory running temperature as well?

reason i ask, is that i was thinking i might use a 1st gen RX7 oil cooler instead - but they have a 50psi regulator and 60degC thermostat built in. if this is a good temp and pressure i'll get it - they're all aluminium too.

geezus what a crappy forum that lextreme is!

bunch of knobknockers who have NFI about what they're talking about - one guy has spent two pages trying to convince everyone that you don't make more power with a higher octane fuel. and he was from Texas...

the rest of them are all like "ooh i just make 1rwkw after my last service! man i fully recommend running no filter in your airbox!". pfft...gimme a Holset and i'll show you what the 1UZ is capable of!

so no one can help me out here?

I'd suggest the pressure used inside any auto transmission will be much higher than the oil pressure in an engine... so your RX7 oil cooler probably won't be suitable. Sorry I don't have any exact figures for you though.

Not too sure exactly but from the top of my head the line pressure goes from about 30 psi to 300 psi depending on engine revs and gear. I think the accumulator pressure goes up to about 50 psi.

what's the accumulator pressure? is that what 'sends' the oil to the oil cooler?

sorry for the dumbarse q's, i'm really not clued up about autos.

the bigger cooler u can fit the better
cooler u can get oil temp the better
maybe even look at the kits u can get for oil coolers
theyre only about 200 bucks

yeah i'm aware of that sideshow, i need the pressure it runs thru the cooler because the RX7 engine oil cooler i plan on using (all alum) is huge for a tranny cooler, but has a thermostat in it for 60-65degC and a 50psi pressure regulator.

so what's the accumulator? is that what 'sends' to oil to the cooler?
