Hey gang just wondering if the 5M-GE wiring loom is the same as a 7M-GE loom.
So could i drop a 7M-GE straight in MX-73 and just change the ECU or would i have to stuff about with looms.
Considering my next project.
So if anyone is selling a MX-73 let me know.
Cheers

Yeah the loom is quite different. In both cases the engine loom is very simple though, so swapping them isn't much of a drama.

Cool no dramas
i just thought i would get out of it real easy.
What type of auto box do these run? Would it be better to get a motor+box deal? Im asuming the 83 box is better than the 73.
How hard to convert MX-73 to manual????
Cheers

MX83's have an A340E box, and I think MX73's have the same. The MX83 is probably beefier/better though.
It's not hard to convert an MX73 to manual if you can find the parts. There's a tech article somewhere which covers it I think.

tech article is here

Good luck finding all the parts (clutch pedal + bracket are the hardest)
I managed to find a GX61 that I ripped everything out of (I was a very lucky find)
That said, its WELL worth the pain and expense
There wasnt any manual MX73's imported to AUS
I'm not sure if any earlier Cressidas brackets are useful, or any crowns for that matter
But I know Celica/Supra are different
