12a turbo on a 18rgeu. Also injector questions. Wed, 10 December 2003 10:08 Go to next message
My father inlaw works in a mazda wrecker and can get a 12a turbo for basically nothing so my question is will it run well on a 18rgeu. Also i was told that all injectors will fit all rails. is this true. If so how would something like v6 commodore injectors go in a turbo'd 18rgeu. what cc are they and what would be the best cc injector to run with the standard ecu. Ive done a search but must be doing something wrong because i cant find any of the info im after but im sure its been said before. Any help would be great. Also is there a legal limit for how low you can sit an engine in a engine bay as ive lowered mine and theres about 5mm between the sump and the crossmember. will this help with handling at all.

woops . i guess you meant a turbo off a 12A rotary? sorry, don't know...

Injector shapes vary across different manufacturers.

For more info about flow, see here:

and here:
<http://www.bsmotor.com/cgi-bin/bsmotor/dyser/dyser .bsp?trykk=2.5&af=12.0&ant=6&pros=65>

for calculating fuel requirements for engines, this might help:
<http://members.shaw.ca/megasquirt/manual/minj.htm# size>
although it's US based ... but it does inform you more about injectors.

[edited to remove studid error about turbo]

A 12A turbo will probably work OK but it will be laggy. Turbos designed for rotaries generally have large exhaust housings, which means they flow well at high rpm but they're inefficient at low rpm.

Whoever told you all injectors fit in all rails is an idiot. As Charles mentioned there are many variations which are completely incompatible. You will find that most Toyota/Nissan NipponDenso injectors will fit in your fuel rail though.

How about Mits injectors? Will they fit Toyota rails?

the 12a turbo is very small compared to the 13b turbo, it will probably work quite well, the 13b turbos work well on 2L and above,

get some 7mgte injectors they are 440cc and around $100 each.
