Embarrassing Moments Mon, 29 July 2002 06:12 Go to next message
well i just had yet another embarrassing moment.
turning right at a roundabout kept it in first then floored it coming out, smoked the wheels up shifted into second then a bang, pedal goes straight to floor and engine goes to idle, limp it to the side of the road and my throttle cable had snapped and sure felt like an idiot when everyone cought up and started walking past me.

now tell us what your most embarrassing moment is. Rolling Eyes

You ever run a Barina? They're not that slow, and the RA60 isn't the fastest thing on the block... Plus my 21R-C was on its last legs at that time.

Don't worry Nark i know how it feels, i got beaten by a Vectra hit 2nd gear and was side by side and starting to pull away and thought "once i hit 3rd i'll have this guy" went to go into third but F**K went into 5th by mistake must of got to excited with the gear stick.

also gave a HSV Senator a drag off the lights beat me by a mile and i don't think he was trying hehehe

Driving at Phillip Island earlier this year. The 4M was on its last legs and for 1.5 laps I was hounded by a stock JB Camira. Unthinkable yet true.

Speaking of sirion, I got behind a gti version of one yesterday. Talk about your slow pieces of crap. Had to brake while idling take off so I didn't run into it.

Opps, sorry gianttomato. Smile

I don't have an embarrassing moment. Maybe I'll stall the auto one day or something....... Grin

my most embassing moment is taking a large roundabout too fast, power sliding to the left, overcompensating and sliding right, right into one of those pedestrian poles and into a council garden, but worst of all i had 4 friends in the car too... with their parents following Eye Spin
all i needed was a new bumber thou Smile

if you shift from "R" to "D" (or maybe the other way around) while moving slowly it'll stall it for sure... I did that twice before i figured outm why it kept stalling

Embarrasing moments...? Rolling Eyes

hmmmm.. there was one time when i'd been practicing left foot braking through a roundabout.. Accelerating out of the roundabout i went to grab third gear, only to have my left foot find the brake again, instead of the clutch!! Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Pulled me up so quickly that it hurt my bloody neck that did!

Missing 2nd gear while racing some guys in a VL a couple of weeks ago was pretty embarrassing too.. Embarassed It wasn't just your typical 2nd gear "corolla crunch" either.. No No No This one just refused to go in, and crunched quite loudly for a good few seconds.. Cry

another moment for me was in the first car club event i did, foot flat on the gas going down a bumpy rutty hill hopeing the car will hold on but then the back stepped out and put full oppisit lock on it but that didn't work ended up stopping 90' to the road facing right towards the other members of the club and if that wasn't bad enough i had my window down so all of a sudden a wall of dust came flying into the car had to sit there for 30 seconds till i could see again started the engine and took off once again.

took months to get the thick layer of dust out of the car

Must have to be real hard. I did that on the way home from a set of lights, probably up to 3k I think. Even there the car wants to pull.

Well, I got ahead of the pack, WAY ahead. Smile Only shifted from 2nd to 3rd (drive) at 80 though, so it wasn't the hardest by a long shot. Grin

Good thing it was a ford. At least you can't stuff something that is already stuffed. Grin

Well, there you go. Time to drive a real car. Grin

Just kidding.

Maybe one day soon I'll see how hard I can rev it before it stalls or I can't stop it from spinning the wheels.

Most embarressing moment:

Driving along with my grilfriends little brother in the car who thinks it's "awesome" (he's about 14), gi ti floor it to overtake my girlfriend in her car when all of a sudden i have absolutely no power and accellerating is making me slow down (weird). i brake to the side of the road as i'm still chugging along the car is spluttering, jumping, hopping down the road i check my fuel guage and milage.. empty at 300 miles...

I guess i just found out my maximum distance i'll go with a full tank.. Embarassed
