overboosting with new 3" exhaust.

I just got a full 3" manderal bent exhuast/single straight through mufller, drones like ya mumma, on my 3tgteu, hits boosts cut really easily in lower gears, 1sst gear when yoiu hit boost, it goes up so fast that it overboosts almost instantly, even 5-10 secs of full boost in 3rd gear will see it overboost, before the exhuast it was fine, dead on 7.2 psi
Exhaust makes a huge difference both on and off boost, but since i cant really get above 4000rpm without overboosting i cant test her out fully.
My question is how do I solve this problem, ive been told porting the wastegate will fix it, What other solutions are there if any?
ps. for some weird reason my boost cut doesnt actaully activate till 10.0 psi DEAD on 10psi..yes m gauge IS accurate.
edit>>> oh and the other really weird thing is, when you boost it hits hard and goes harder than it did, but when the wastegate fully opens like another 15hp gets added you can feel the kick, like its flowing more exhuast and gaining more power, any else seen or experienced this?

Told you so!
Yep, time to port the waste gate. My setup did this also with the standard CT20, I solved the problem by replacing the turbo with a T28, as you well know by now! You can also disable the fuel cutout for safer driving by removing the sensor line to the unit, but leaving the electrical line hooked up still.
My only explanation for your raised Wastegate activation level is a modified wastegate, done before you bought the car?!?

no im talking bout the fuel cut as in, when it jolts like hell, boost is held at 7psi stock previously, but i cant boost in ANY gear over 3000rpm or else it overboosts now. 1st and 2nd being the worst, 3rd and 4th can stay in a little longer, 0-100 in 10secs shifting at 3000rpm in every gear. being in 4th by about 90k, not bad? cant wait to try it out closer the redline where the xhaust is actaully ment to help, all over the rev range there has been a nice increase.
Now the T28 can i just bolt that straight on and changing nothing(ECU/fuel wise) - they are almost identical flow yeah? just t28 is far better turbo?
T28 is soundling like the smartest options at the moment, any info towards the swap would be gold. </ramble>

but then there will be no protection if I accidently overboost?? i havent actaully hit overboost with the new exhuast but the boost gauge gets upto 9psi at like 3000rpm hence i change.
as you read before fuel cut eats its way in at 10psi.

T28 will give better boost response, and will outflow the CT20 in all areas, its a much more efficient design. I'd scrap the factory management as your FIRST upgrade.

Yep, this will disable the fuel cut, ie, it keeps supplying fuel till the next thing to let go, does(can you say pistons!).
If you don't do something to the standard turbo, be it port it or replace it, learn to live with it.
Yep, the T28 will run rings around the CT20 performance wise. I made a new exhaust manifold to mount the turbo as they won't interchange, this also makes new oil and water lines easier to route.
Personally, I'd keep the standard management till it is no longer viable, it does a good job of regulating the motor on the rich side of fuel delivery and has many inbuilt motor saving features (ie, rev limit, ignition retard on engine knock, ...).
