Cams makes cars sound "tight".
Compare "da hondaz cruising down the street" and full race cars. Biggest difference is that race cars have more aggressive cams and 2" smaller exhaust pipe than these import tuning cars. Yet forgetting intake noise.

I personally think the noise has a lot to do with what type of muffler and resonator is used, i mean brand, inlet and outlet size.

I loved the sound of my old 4ag sprinter, quiet on idle but screamed up in the revs
I even had 2 different chicks say on different occasions how nice my car sounded.
Had a nice raspy racing car sound
sounds way better than my old twin cam rolla which had similar setup but had a hot dog which should make it drole less, but it actually droned more.
You could hear my 4ag sprinter blocks away if you were giving it some hehe, I heard my baby drive away for about 2 mins and he took off at each set of lights hehe
It just had 2 inch exhaust, pod filter, cat and some dodgy sports muffler
I miss that sound
hopefully the 1g sounds good

too many ppl focus on exhaust for sound quality and/or Decibels intake has almost as much impact on the sound of your car especially its exhaust and most aftermarket filters will give a better sound
i think its the 4a 20v that has quad throttle bodys with 4 trumpets, one for each cyl which sounds almost as good as a redneck carby fed motor (almost) damn yuppies and their EFI

Didn't we all have this conversation on Garth's thread?!!!? I copied one of the fastest NA1600cc street cars here in Perth when I had my exhaust made, it's simply a 2" system, with one Lukey Performance Muffler at the end, and yes I still have it and still want to sell it!

So, what do you have now, and what are you prepared to do - change systems, mufflers remove resonators, ...?
Personally, I've found removing resonators certainly helps exhaust note, without affecting level drastically.

ok
4 into 1 pipes connecting into a single 2-2.25 inch press bent system, no ressie no mid mufflers.. over the diff and into a single box muffler which isnt that large, unsure of brand or type muffler but its a triflow of somesort.
oh and i have a tip with a million holes in it for the machine gun effect when it shoots flames...
so yes.. it is loud but crappy sounding

Yep, I'd say your muffler is stuffed if it belches flames and is originally triflowed (the exhaust muffling has been burnt out). The muffler used in my system is a single pass offset style, so no real restiction, but good muffling characteristics. Pipe size and layout/design sounds about right, just need to give the muffler some attention.

i want it to flame
seriously tho... wack another tri flow or something similar on there?
what aout the one that is straight through but angled? for example.. entry is on the right of the muffler, pipe makes it way accross the left and exists the muffler that way?
make sence?

If you want to keep the flame show, don't go with a triflow again, it takes too much to push the gas through the muffler, rather go for the offset design (left to right)as you described in your last post. This is the same style of muffler I currently have for my AE86 exhaust.

If you want it to sound really good, you could try installing teh cams out of a 1UZ. They might require a bit of fabrication work and a few extra pistons, maybe another head but I am sure it would sound heaps better.
