My slammed MA61 - sik! Fri, 12 December 2003 09:30 Go to next message
OK not quite, but here's some pics I just took of my Supra with its new suspension installed. There's also a TrueTrac in there somewhere, but you can't see it - you'll just have to trust me. Smile

Norbie, you've used the words (ah-hem) 'slammed' and 'sik' in a post.

You must now drive a Commodore for the rest of the month as a penalty. Razz

Lambolica: my 17" wheels arrive late January, which will require 35 profile tyres. Low enough for you?

Bill: that's cruel and unusual!

V8Supra: this car is meant to be something of a sleeper, the towbar stays! Besides it's actually quite useful - the Supra is an awesome tow car as it turns out.

BlackSupra: Kings Lows, same as Ed.

The asthetics are all well and good, but thats not what this car is about is it ?

WHAT, does it drive like now ? Can you notice the change from 20yo suspension gear ? Have you had a chance to see how it responds to the power ie, weight transfer and traction control ?

Phew. Whenever I read slammed, I also imagine chromiez!

Looking good - now you need those pretty deep dish wheels and some HSV 343mm rotors.

I reckon it's at least 2-3" lower than standard. "Enough" anyway.

GT: I'm workin on it!

pimp1j: nah, can't be stuffed. In fact I don't think I've washed the car since the nationals at Dubbo (Easter). Razz

Boudan: excellent questions. Yes of course I noticed a HUGE difference compared to the rooted 20yo suspension. The car is far more confidence inspriring, I can punt it around without fearing for my life and it doesn't do anything weird on me. Most impressive is the levels of grip, especially during high-speed cornering and especially in the rear. I can take high-speed sweepers at much higher speeds than ever before, and if I plant my foot it actually accelerates instead of trying to launch me off the road! In summary, I'm extremely pleased with my investment... although there are more improvements to come (swaybars, adjustable camber front and rear).

Nick: of course I'll be at the track again! I wanna go to the drags pretty soon, and of course I'll be having a crack at QR as soon as I can but that might have to wait for the brake upgrade. I'll let you know either way!

As for my rims, this is what they look like:

Yeah, no way that's "only" 1". My Kmac's are 1 inch and I reckon they are about 1" higher than those Kings...

norbie - how are you going to make your rear camber adjustable?
I know the front is as easy as a camber kit, or the ra6x swap

Still investigating that, but basically it involves slotting the mounting points on the crossmember.

Might be handy for you.

Adjustable rear camber.

For a Datto, but essentially the same setup. You'd probably couple that with some eccentric camber bolts and some slotted plates with graduations (Kmac do them) so that you could give it a sense of tunability.
