ask CeLiCa ( note upper and lower case )
hes put a group a st185 motor in his st184 coupe - and its reliable and quick as shit off a shovel
He'd be the best person to ask

mr2 3s-ge/gte bracketry is different to celica 3s-ge/gte bracketry.
swap it over from your 5s-fe and you shouldn't run into any hassles.

well u might already know this one but the wiring plugs probably won't match so u'll have to swap the plugs with the old loom(u might want to try and get a wiring diagram for the sw20 and the st184, i've heard toyota are reluctant to give them out).
Exaust.
the linkages will need to be changed(this is what i have been told), as it is a mid-mount box to front mount box.
I don't know the differences in the sw20 and the st185 so there may be some variance between the placing of the intercooler, u might want to just front mount it.
These are just some points to expect, i don't know them all and i might be wrong. I did the st185 into an st162.

imho i would not strongly recomend it. ive done alot of research and an mr2 half cut swap u would run into alot of probs. mainly the wiring harness. not unless ur getting the half cut for less than $1000 and in good condition with less than 100k kms.
u can source a st185 for about $2000 and the swap can be done yourself with limited mechanical knowledge.
im planning to do my swap over the new year.
