ST-185 Block and ST-205 Head Sun, 14 December 2003 03:57 Go to next message
All I want to know is if the ST205 head will bolt onto the ST185 block.

The Zoom 3sgte tuners guide says that they wont but everyone else is telling me that they will.

I need someone who knows for sure or has actually tried!!

Thanks

it will bolt up but the 205 block had more ribbing in it and ran a alloy sump for strength but you could bolt up the sump and steel pan but you also need the oil pump to suit as both had squirters 185 and 205

Ok thats what I wanted. So all water and oil holes line up.
So the 185 and 205 head gasket are the same??

NO NO NO. The 205 head will fit the 185 block but you MUST use the 205 HG otherwise you'll be blocking galleries. The blocks have the same gallereies but they are elongated whereas the heads just have small ports that are offset from the 185 to the 205. this is good for you though as the 205 gaskets is a steel 3 layer and very very good.
