I take mine easy for the first 1000kms or so, then start to ease the revs up.....

Give it shit from the word go!! Let it know what it is in for from the start. Tell me how can you bed in a cam as per specs from the cam manufacture and run an engine in likeeveryone tells you to with installing the cam after it is run in??? Piston engines are a pain in the ass buy a rota No really it is up to you you can drive something hard and keep it going if you use your head and change the oil regually

with the engines i build, i run in the cams as per its spec sheet, take it for a good long drive 200ks+ without sitting at one engine speed for too long.. drive it for another 300ks or so, replace the run-in oil for synthetic and go from there i dont believe people that say the rings have to settle in they do that in the first 5 seconds of the engine starting if you have assembled them to the right tolerances basically change oil and filter within 500ks and dont do short trips during the run-in period. you will probably be disappointed with the output of the engine to start with but it slowly frees up
