Feedback on my TA22 dash... Sun, 14 December 2003 10:51 Go to next message
i'm only starting but after peoples thoughts on this :

http://www.vncommodore.com/images/celica/newdash.jpg

i'd go the autometers for speedo and tacho, but, i'm looking at just short of $1k for both, which, um, is kinda expensive...so a bit of paint and polish on the originals to make em that wee bit unique and, well, there you go.

looks nice!

have you looked at the VDO speedo and tach?? they will give you much better change from a grand and are arguably better quality anyway...
i'm almost definitely going the VDO speedo, and may as well get the tach while i'm redoing the dash.. mmmm electronically calibrated Very Happy

speedo seems to be around $350ish, and tach from $1-200

Looks pretty sweet to me! I can't think of any valid reason to change the factory speedo and tacho though... as long as they work, what's the problem?

forgot to mention the autometer AFR gauge is going where the ciggy lighter *normally* lives (i don't smoke and neither does the car) so yeah.

also neglected to mention the volt gauge will actually be a fuel gauge. the volt gauge will live where the clock normally does...

stewart, with you on the VDO gear, problem is the holes for the gauges are oval at the front and round at the back - so you can't mount the gauge flush up front without some chemistry and plastic fudging. Up back might be ok though.

But, kinda like the look of the gauges now, so, think I'll leave it (until i get bored and rich again)

taplus22 - thats my spare dash aye. so all good there.
just gotta mod a couple of little things
the fuel gauge will be going where the battery gauge is in the pic and the 2+1/16 AFR meter going where the ciggy lighter lives.
the battery volt meter will go in the console where the clock lives (which is where the fuel gauge is at the moment temporary) and later the boost gauge will go there too.

my good mate photochopped the other two dials in and, now, well i wanna spend more money i don't have :

fook, well, the ke dash is only a little different from the ta - maybe grab yourself a ra23/28 dash and graft bits and pieces in there you've already done the celica tacho with the fuel/temp gauge in the clock hole, so, you're getting there.
