isn't that a modded-VW kind-of-thing? converting razor-blade rims to wide-arse monsters... Cool

since Wilson's Wheels works in Albion closed, who's left?

most mag wheel repair shops also widen wheels, check yellow pages. if you were in NSW i would give u the info of the guy i went to, he was quick, ok prices, and the wheels came out perfectly balanced.

sleeper projects rock Cool

Can you only widen steel rims? I thought that "any circular weld" other that the one that connects the center to the rim was illegal.. (ps not that I care!)

I'd love to get my stock alloys widened if its possible.

Cheers

they dont widen the existing rim, they take out the center and weld it into a completely new ready made rim at the size and offset of choice.

Please let us all know how you go, what go got done and what it cost.

I am looking to do the same thing with my car at some stage. Currently it's on 14x5's with 185/75/14 tyres (can you say understeer?)... I'm looking to go up to a 14x6", 14x6.5", or 14x7" size and maybe run up to some 205/65's.... may drop the profile a little more while I'm at it.

All in the interests of retaining the Mark II hubcaps!

PS: Nick, what'd you drive into this time? Very Happy

Simon - same deal as steelies, you can't cut them and weld in an extra section. The only alloys that can be widened are multi-piece like Simmons... bolt apart, throw away outside and bolt on new size.

lol, a little presumptious aint it leigh Razz

i bought the wheels already damaged...few chunks missing and a good size scratch on the inside of the rim...nfi how that possibly could have happened. The scratches on the inside of the rim had raised the metal around it so it was rubbing on the tyre.

the guy down there wanted $150....bit steep but i wasnt in the mood to complain...just wanted it done

ive also been told Chris Neale at Wheel Revolution (something like that) 2/18 randall st slacks creek does a good job. 32092833

Try speaking to Ian Diffen. I wouldn't go there in a screaming fit,. except that they seemed to be the only place that would do it.

I believe they vend new steel rims in any stud patten/size you want. I booked a set to be made but never heard back despite a few phone calls... might be worth trying a differetn outlet if they're not helpful (I went to the rocklea one)
