i have come across a camry with leaking seals round the rocker cover around where the spark plugs go into

just check that the oil hasnt run down from the rocker cover

the oil will eventually weep thru the spark plug thread and oil up or foul the spark plug and then the engine will miss

check this b4 u start looking for blown headgasket

I had the same exact problem with my supra 7mgte, one day after flooring it, it suddenly was running on 5 cylinders.
Later on found alot of oil in the spark plug well.

replaced the cam cover seals, put new spark plugs in, and tightened the cam covers down real good.

haven't had a problem since.

yeah, a combination of old hardened/cracked rubber cam seals, and loose screws that hold the cam covers down.

Blown head gasket... nearly for sure Smiley = the misfiring/overheating gives it away

It'll be the oil, earthing out the plug which inturn takes out two cylinders cause 7mgte's run twin coil packs and the misfiring of two cylinders and incorrect burning of the fuel cause it's dieseling will cause massive combustion temps and the overheating your seeing.

I had the rocker covers leaking oil into the spark plug area on my 7MGE... It's a bastard to get the oil out of there once you replace the rocker cover gasket. I just pulled the plugs and it drained into the cylinders (didn't know what else to do)... The car blew clouds of smoke for 45 min once I got it started. Shocked

When i got my BHG fixed we replaced the black metal strip thingy? Razz down between each cam cover. Thart stopped all the oil build up in the spark plug holes.
