i'd stick with the t50 until your ready for the conversion or be prepared to spend big $$$ now. also would have to wait a considerable time for a fabricated bellhousing to be made unless you can find one

Excuse my ignorance but what is a t50 out of? Are you referring to the stock aus-spec box?
How much would I be looking at to get another in good nic?

t50 were in both jap and aus spec sprinters. found in some celicas aswell i believe

what sort of engine are you looking at putting in?
personally i'd go with a t-50 & adaptor plate for a w* series bellhousing so that way you can chuck in a supra g/box and not have to worry about it breaking
alternatively you can source a modified w* series bellhousing (good luck)+ g/box
or just stick with the t-50 and replace as you go

Probably either just a 4age or I might go for a 1ggte conversion!
How much are the supra gearbox's and are they hard to get a hold of?

Replace the stock box with another stock box for a few hundred bucks.
A gearbox conversion will cost you in the order of $1500 if you can't find the parts second hand... why bother when your new engine is going to come with a suitably stronger box?

For some reason i think the splines are different in the ta22, but im only 80%.
I think the ta22 has 22 splines and a sprinter t50 only has 20, or the other way around, i could be wrong thou, do a search you never know what you might find.
