line lockers

I'm just curious to know what people use for line lockers. I'm looking to put a line locker on the rear of my car to assist in stationary burnouts. Just curious if anyone has done one on a ra23 or some such.

what you need is a either a toggle valve, or a ball valve. preferably a ball valve due to the hydraulic pressure.
Swagelok has a number of items that will fit, but you will need to work out how to fit it into the brake-line with adaptors and such.
this better not be for a street car.
if it is, just cut the rear brake line, you will be much better off, and i'll feel much better
if it is for an occasional drag car, you could just make up a fitting for the rear brake output on the master, and block up the line to the rear brakes. that way you can undo it when you get to the track, and refit it (and bleed it) when you leave.

Cut the rear brake lines as they pass under the driver/passenger
Then re-route this to come up inside the cabin, inside the centre console box (just behind the handbrake)
Put a couple of on/off valves in there and re-route the lines back to where they came from
This way, so turn off the rear brakes, all you have to do is one the box, twist two valves, and your rear brakes are disconnected
This is also 100% invisible to cops.
Although, going over the pits, they are bound to see it!!
*Disclaimer. DON'T DO THIS*

www.vpw.com.au sell them
imo they are on the same scale as lowering your car with coil spring compressors!
do you really need them anyhow? ive done plenty of stinkers in my time and ive never had major issues with the rear brakes

unless of course it actually is for doing burnouts in the water at the drags.... then it's much more acceptable ... would want a hydro handbrake as well mmmmm drag racing, can't wait till they bring topfuleers back to eastern creek!!

Ack, haven't any of you seen what burnouts do to your rear brakes if you don't use a line locker? Or maybe I just do slightly more severe blackstuffing that some others... or something!

Oh yeah, old school brake shoe rivets are workable - they fit exactly inside a brake pipe, then you do it up again and nobody is any the wiser However, I really suggest going to a speed shop and buying a proper line lock kit!

look into putting subaru calipers in the front they are f/wheel hand brake. makes for crap handbrake turns but. depends how much trouble you want to go to, and how paraniod you want to be about being legal, the best way is a tap on the line for the back right under the master cyl. illegal as all buggery, but thats only a problem if you crash, want insurance, or like to be able to pass vehicle inspections

In answer to all these questions (albeit late) THe idea was to do the burnouts at the drag strip, yes, so that's why I want the line lockers..

I've heard that if you do the dodgy and use g-clamps the brake hoses can stuff up and internally collapse (something like that)
If i were you get an adjustable proportioning valve or better yet get one with a solenoid! you can mount the valve under the bonnet and run a wire to a switch inside the car.. i was considering doing this myself.. but then i thought its not like i have problems smoking it up anyway.

using a line locker is so much easier on the driveline and rear brakes when dropping a skid, even if its in the water at the drags
just get a proportional valve like the motorkhana boys do and just crank it all the way to the front, that way its easier to asjust and u can go to the motorkhana events too.
oldcorollas, u do realise that they will never bring fuellers back to eastern creek
