These are questions my friend wants to know and I donno much about engines and conversion so if you can please help.
he is looking to get a 4AGZE for conversion to sprinter:
1. How do you tell if the engine is AFM or MAP just by looking at the engine setup
2. How do you tell if engine is in good condition and things are working fine
3.If he want to fit a SC14 to the engine, what should he look for, does he have to change to larger injectors, bigger pulley, computer, front mount and what psi can it handle
4. If he wants to rebuild the engine before he put it in, do you know where he can get it done for a good price in Sydney. Also how much to rebuild the SC?
5. What would be a good setup to improve the power?

1. you can tell if it's MAP, 'cos there's no AFM... basically, if the inlet pipe from the throttle body goes straight to the air filter, and there is NO big bulky sensors in the air tract, then you have a MAP engine.
2. turn it over, do a leak-down test, do a compression check on it, if it is still in a car, apart from that...
3. you can't fit an SC14 to a 4A-GZE if you're putting it in an AE86, and still retain the stock engine mounts. it's too long.
4. no. i'm in Adelaide.
5. front mount, NEVO pulley kit, aftermarket ECU.
