I used to own one of these. It definitely matters what generation engine it is. My first engine was a gen 3 (not an ls1 Smile) and with an exhaust, filter and 10psi I could keep up with pretty stock VS clubsports.

Then i got my new engine, which i am pretty sure was an earlier model and it just never seemed the same. Had trouble keeping up with VS 6 cylinders. it was running stock boost (8psi)

If you are just after speed, i would think the SS would be quicker but no where near as nice on the inside. Plus you would look like every other Commodore driver around. Good to be unique Smile

Well thats true i want to be different, ive been in a vn ss b4, but never in the late 80's soarer's so i can't compare interior. But i just am not sure about the engine, dont know much about them and i do want something thats quick, if i can find a soarer with the 7m gte, then ill be set. Very Happy

yep, if you can afford the 7m soarer, that would be the quickest.

I wish i researched more before buying my 1g soarer. But i was young and stupid Smile

thats a vn berlina s1 interior (1988-1990) - not an SS Evil or Very Mad

lots of people seem to have luck with the 1G motor though - why not look at some options for that instead...the 7M soarers are pretty rare from what i know.

i think that the 1g ones are more rare? I only saw about 10 other z2 model soarers in the 2 years that i drove my gz20!

Just buy Supraman's one! otherwise get a 7m one with the HG done.
