I have a 88 aw11 mr2 with a stock 4age with 130,000 on the clock. the motor has had the timing belt replaced and is in excellent condition.

I want to know if it is possible to supercharge the 4age i already have.

if i run 8psi of boost and retard the timing and use hi octane fuel will this be o.k.?

can i decompress the it with a copper head gasket?

has anyone heard if this is a possible thing to do.

i realise it will not be as good as getting a 4agze and bolting it in but i only have $1,000 to spend. any other recomendations would be great.

also what is a good price to pay for a 4agze complete with computer?. anyone got one for sale?

you would probably find that you would end up spending more, trying to get the ge to run right with less than ideal power, i dont think it would be worth it, trying to source seperate parts etc. for a $1000 if you shopped around you would pick up a 4agze with all it's bits, and if you were lucky you might even get a ze gearbox as well. in the long run i say it would be better to go the ze way. from all the things i've read bout forcing the ge from the states (it is possible), is that they dont last long as they were not built for boost. the hks turbo kit that came out for the ge would only run a max of 5psi for engine relibility. some of them have run the ge with more boost, but i can assure you they spent way more than $1000 to get it there.

give SSS a call and see what they have in stock.

Thanks fellas,

i think you are right.

the 4agze is the better way to go.

i will buy one and have the conversion done properley. only problem is i dont have a garage or tools at the moment. living in a flat sucks...

if anyone can do the conversion for me with their tools and garage (i will supply all the help and beer you need) i will also give you the 4age out of my car minus all the bits i will need to do the conversion.

that way i should be able to get some quality boost for cheaper.

cheers

it's not available any more, you have to get a turbo manifold custom made now, if you want to turbo it.
i do have the complete hks original 4age turbo manual (if you want to call it that) on disc.
