Cressiad Grande fuel economy Fri, 19 December 2003 22:18 Go to next message
Just out of curiousity what do people get out of their MX83 cressidas. I get 10-12 litres/100km on the freeway and 15 litres / 100km in the city. I think its pretty normal. What do you think?

Andrew.

Surprisingly, mine returns similar figures to yours (ie. 600kms freeway cycle/400-odd city cycle).

Give it some new plugs, new air filter and an oil change and you'll probably see an improvement. - did wonders for mine when I first bought it

I usually get better than 10L/100km on a trip usually with the Air Cond on on my old 7MGE. The first Melbourne-Sydney trip I did I got 677km from 59.85 Litres -(Third bowser click) which works out to abou 8.9L/100km

City driving is mostly done by my G/F, and looking in the log book she seems to get about 380km - 420km from about 55 to 60 litres so yeah, around 14-15L/100km

Now that the 7MGE is sold (delivered it today to a guy who is dropping it into his Crown) it will be interesting to see how the 2JZ-GTE goes in comparison..

Just for interest sake - Today my tired R31 Skyline (slipping) Auto returned 14.5L/100 on the trip computer for the Sydney - Canberra - Sydney trip - (towing a 8x5 cage trailer with the engine/gearbox etc (about 800kg all up) with the Air Con on all the time... - bloody thirsty bitch !!!

I get about the same figures as Southo did. My GLX usually takes 55L to fill from empty and I get a bit over 600k's on the highway and about 500 driving to work every day in suburban sort of driving.
Something strange I have noticed is that my cressy doesn't like premium. I have tried it a couple of times and it runs worse and gets worse fuel economy. As soon as I put regular ULP back in I notice better performance almost straight away. Wierd. I'm thinkin theres something wrong with it and the premium is making it run richer or something Confused
Anyone else tried premium in their mx83? Hows it go?

Thanks Southo
I sorted out my noisy head problems anyway, so I won't be needing the 7mge head. I think my overheating problem may have been caused by the air conditioning service guys draining the overflow tank and not refilling it. Since I've topped it up to cover the dip tube I've not had any problems. I hope it stays that way. The 7MGE is sounding sweet again.
How's the transplant going?

I normally get about 330-380km per tank (55-59L)... I was getting pissed off about it but now realise that it is quite a comparable figure to you guys. YAY! Very Happy

Lucky you didn't need it - It's found a happy owner in Canberra now Smile $750 delivered and he couldn't be happier Smile

Still about the same - just waiting on the Fan & Shroud to arrive. I am going to run with the Hydraulic fan to start with and see how it goes from there...
