I need some help pretty urgent.
I looked at a n/a ma70 today, which id love to buy as its pretty cheap. It has a Blown head gasket.
Um can someone tell me how much its gonna cost if i fix it myself.
Id like to get a valve grind from someone.
Std toyota head gasket.
Arp head bolts if req'd
I think i could port and polish the heads (is this a good mod for 7mge's?)
What else do i need to do?

Thanks Heaps
Blake.

Take my advice.. don't spend any money on a 7MGE. ATMO = POO

Buy the car, bin the motor and fit a 7MGTE.. they're cheap as chips and as long as the head gasket isn't already blown you can just tighten the head bolts an she'll be sweet.

Is the car a manual? If so, then you're set because you only need to buy an engine/loom/ecu... the W58 will be strong enough.

That said I did a head gasket on my 7MGTE for about $400 including the gasket ($160), head disassembly/machine/reassembly ($100) and all the coolant, oil, etc.

You may be up for a set of manifold gaskets as well, but I didn't have this problem.

Also be aware that if the head gasket has been blown for a while, or if the motor has been poorly treated... it won't last long at all... my $400 fix involved an absolutely mint engine.

I have one toy - a 5.0L v8 in my ma61.

I need an ma70 n/a..Dont want another turbo toy. One money pit is enough. it is quiet whilst running, no knocks or rattles. it is an auto. It doesnt appear to be poorly treated. You can smell the oil in the coolant and vica versa, but it appears to be running good q oil etc..
I've been looking for an n/a one for yonks, so im willing to spend a dollar to fix it.

Blake.

head gasket $160, coolant, oil, gasket goo, that's about it apart from paying someone ti disassemble the head and do whatever you want with it (personally i'd get stem seals done if you are wanting it to last a while).

then maybe cam cover gaskets, inleft manifold gasket and exhaust manifold gasket if required.

budget a little for some new clamps and rubber hoses and stuff to be safe.

yeah stem seals would be a must..would consider a valve grind and id clean out the intake manifold etc with my die grinder...is port work a good mod on 7mge's?
WHo dissambled/ assembled your head for $100?
