i thought i might post a few silly drags me and my friend (Grant, "the untouchable") have had before.
this one was a while ago, both of us in our aforementioned celicas. due to a good start, i got the jump on him and stayed roughly about a foot in front until 3rd gear, in which he took off....
well done mr sa63.
then the other night, we lined up against eachother again- sa63 vs. ma61. this time he got the jump, and stayed in front by half a car length. i started to pull him back, but he slowed before i got into third. well done sa63.... dunno what i did here, just aint used to driving my car i guess. actually, im probably just shit.
i did beat an auto VL commondore though....
the end.

I always get my brother when in a drag with my MA61 vs SA63... What is wrong with your car Evil... Oh yeah... It might be because it is Manual ...
Both my xA6x are Autos so they go hard (When Pushed).
Looks like you have to go back to the drawing board
Cheers.

I'll second that, strapping an auto to them is the metaphorical equivalent to breaking someones ankles and strapping them up. You get there, but its knocked so much of the pace off.

I testify against auto ma61 sluggishness ..
i HATE the auto in dads supra below 60kmh rolling ..
it feels like its dragging a tonne extra of crud ..
Slow POS..
manual would at least let you liberate a few more revs ..
The only way i can get it to MOVE is to " maunally " shift thru to drive from 1st..
ma61 auto was no where NEAR a match in a drag with my old ta22 - it flogged the absolute pants off the supra..
If i get dads off him - it will be manualified - with either a 7mgte - or full hog 1uzfe

hmm yes. i didnt get into third, and its not like he was gaining on me- he got the jump and it was about level. from about 65km/h upwards i was pulling him back, but he pulled out.

had a rematch the other night
my ma61 decided it was backfire night and did it at every oppurtunity
however the sa63 is pretty fucked now, and when revved above about 4500rpm, it makes all sorts of hellish sounds...
ah well both lined up, decent starts by both (thanks new clutch), both screeched a bit
the ma61 pulled away end of first, into second, gained more, and subsequently third and gaining... etc
i didnt expect it, i thought i was gonna get done again
at least its running correctly now... thanks supra
