1GGTE Temperature readings...

Just curious what type of readings you guys are getting from your 1G's.
Mine seems to read on a scale a lot smaller than the gauge.
What I mean by this is from the cold marking to the 1/4 marking seems to be a 100% scale (1/4 meaning it's bloody hot).
Does this sound like my gauge is hooked up wrong? Or do I require a diiferent gauge / sender unit to get an accurate reading?
Cheers Kirk

It's a twin core of a st165 I think... It has the filler in the middle of the top tank.
Do you think something with better cooling properties is in order?

mine runs at about 80-90 degrees never seem to have a problem, if you want to get accurate temp readings i hope u have not wired your dash temp guage into the 1g sensor, use the original sensor that the car come out with just for temp sensing for the gauge and the original 1g item for the comp.

I am not sure about the different versions of the 1G, but in my old GEN2 (I think thats what it was) I had to change the temp sender as it only hit about 1/3 when it was really hot. Putting in the original type sender fixed it. They do bolt in but if I recall correctly the 18R one is a bit longer and bottome out.
I am in the process of converting to a gen3 so I will let you know if the sender is any different.
