I'm about to start a porject car, its an R30 skyline, R200 diff from Dr30, full coil overs all round, velo's and stereo from my RX7, Wheels etc etc
well for my R30 skyline project i was origionally going to go a RB series motor, like either an RB20det or a RB25det.. but after some reasearch and thinking... im slightly more inclined to go the 1JZ idea. Its got more power then the RB25det out of the box not to mention more low down torque, and whats more its cheaper!
how hard would it be to fit to an R30/31 skyline? the reason i was going to go rb series cause they all drop in on the L24 mounts.. piece of cake where as the 1Jz isnt going to be as easy
idea's ppl?

gday mate... good luck. Should be too hard. infact it is probably not much different to putting it into an mx73 cressida where the mounts must be made anyhow.

Mate, get yourself the lattest copy of zoom and have a look at the article of the Silvia that has been fitted with a 1jz. Should be similar. Good luck.

Go for it! I was looking at shoving an rb25 into a c210 skyline soonish, only reason being I get the skyline for nothing, and the rb25 for not a great deal more. But, if you've gone to the work on the car already (suspension etc.) and like the way it behaves, then the 1jz would be a great choice. Even if theres a little more work to begin with, go for it. What gearbox did you have in mind?
