I recently purchased two new front tyres (215/65/14) for my daily driver from Ozzy Tyres Bexley. The tyres were priced well, but boy did the customer service leave a lot to be desired. These guys spend mega bucks on advertising in various popular car magazines, but like you said, if the phone chick has no manners, most customers will take their coin down the road. Maybe a short stint at McDonalds would teach them a thing or two about customer service. Your not the only one who picked up on this problem.

I can tell you what the problem really is, but it's probably best to keep my mouth shut and move on to the next post.

yeah, when i was shopping for wheels i learnt a few things about sales and service people in tyre shops... they arent all bad but sum are just there to rip off people who dont know anybetter. most ads for 'cheap and popular' wheels in magazines are deciving. if u see chrome 17" rims for $1500 then chances are that there are 'none left in stock'
heaps of shifty guys out there, the sort of people that wouldnt get out of their chair to help you. heaps of people willing to feed u shit just to trick u into buying their second rate crap. the bad thing is sooner or later u wont be able to distinguish who is full of it and who is not, end up trusting no one and getting ripped off anyway.
i've heard sum shifty stories about ozzy... selling cheap wheels then taking down your address and thiefing them back

They would have to be one of the rudest retailers I have the misfortune of dealing with. That is definately the secretary from hell!!! Skull - Mad

I'm thinking the only approach that would work is glueing $100 notes all over yourself and rock up looking like Guido Hatzis. Sorry if I apprear racist because I'm most definately not....but I'm sure as heck that they are.

ACE tyres at Smithfeild are very good and I've dealt with them a few times. They have good prices and will match too.
Another very worthy mention are the guys down at Taren Point Bob Jane. They are most helpful and look after you if you shoot straight with them. I've also rocked up for a set of nuts for my import GT4 spare car and he practically gave them to me. Inlike Ozzy who would try to sell you plastic valve caps if you needed one in an emergency.

Save your advertising dollars "Ozzy" Tyres (as it seems everyone has a billboard poster sticker on the windows anyway) and put your staff through a manners and management course.

Your best bet would be to ring them and ask for a price otherwise you'll get a million different responses...

I would just like to go against the consensus here.

I had great service at Ozzy from this guy called Steve (I did not deal with this simingly infamous secretary as I just rocked up). Here was very helpful, and as you know the AE86 does have an odd offset and all. He even advised that I try some other places out and so on, which seemed very straight up to me.

Which I will be doing and will probably try ACEs. By the way Les as this is an open forum and who ever takes offence is perfectly able to defend themseleves I think one can say what ever they like.

I have also been told by friends to use your work address or maybe a friends address who lives in Brisbane when dealing with any place of mechanical repair just so know one knows where your car lives.

Cheers

Youngy, u are obviously new here and had not heard / read bout the (true) story with the VW dealer and unhappy customer, and how the complaint turned into a lawsuit or someshit ! Someone fill him in.

But yeah YOU feel free to say what you like, that doesnt bother me one bit. Twisted Evil

It's supposed to be a public forum, so say what you like within forum guidelines and share your experiences - just don't slag off the club sponsors even if they do provide crap service, otherwise you may be ganged up on by the powers that be, things can get out of hand and you may end up with a final warning.

Thanks Manny and Les.

I would just like to clear up some small facts you have raised. Firstly, Manny as you may note from my post I was not slagging off Ozzy tires, quite the opposite. I did not know they were sponsers of the club as they are not listed under the 'sponsors' link on these pages.

I would love to see the details of the VW case as it has been sometime since I did defamation law, so in the interim I will go and find some of my old text books.

Thanks for the link Manny and thanks for your permission Les.

Cheers.

You misunderstood me - I was not inferring that you were slagging off Ozzy and they're not a club sponsor AFAIK, just letting you know how things have been dealt with around here lately and what to watch out for. I was just re-affirming my belief and your comment about a member feeling free to say what they believe and pass on experiences - free speech and all that.
I personally don't have an opinion of Ozzy but do of SSS.

Guys,

This is a Public Forum and freedom of speach is indeed respected. We have very few guidelines one of them is no personal attacks. The thread Manny is refering to was locked because of the abuse not because someone had a go at one of the club sponsors.

In a nut shell you can post what you like in the relevent section with 3 small exceptions:

1. No Personal Abuse
2. No Encourageing/promoting street racing
3. No Porn/ overly offensive material

The only other thing we don't allow is Commercial advertising.

With any Commercial venture they are in it to make money and Ozzy Tires or SSS are no different from any where else in that repect. Do your homework and Buy smart and you should be fine.
