Mk4 ma70? hmmmm... an ma70 (or jza71) core might be quite alright for the job though, as would a galant VR4 - I would imagine a 7mgte one might have the outlet pipes in about the best position for what you want. I use a jza71 core on my ae86, and at 140+rwkw its starting to become a bit of a flow restriction, therefore I intend on replacing it soon, however for a 4agze with the usual stuff like a bigger exhaust it should be a good thing, provided it fits the space nicely.

my pick of the bunch would be the VR4 cooler, but remember, the jap ones are bigger/better than the aussie delivered ones.

Yeh also another thing i forgot to mention is the positioning of the end tank outlet/inlet. So have to take this into account. suppose something like 2" inlet and outlet is suitable. Is there any other intercooler which is good for my application? I've always wondered if other i/c's such as: Nissan Silvia/180sx/200sx s13/14 i/c Nissan GTR/GTS R32/33 i/c .....be suitable at all ? Without goin to too much expense redesigning the end tanks.
Any url on the toyota supra i/c specs , would be much appreciated.

Keep in mind it has to fit behind the front grille of an AE82.

Pretty much rule out the whole of that last list unless its the GTR..they are all supposed to be fairly small and dodgy.

The GTS and silvia ones, well, suck! GTR one would be great, although probably a tad pricey and would have to be stuck out like a bloody great mattress, annoucing itself to the world. Or maybe this is what you want? you decide...

Getting real close to a decision

Thanks people for all your help. Im real close at a decision now. Comes down to.....
1. Series 4 RX7 intercooler 2. 3SGTE GT4 intercooler (any differences b/w ST185 and ST205 ones??) 3. Galant VR4 intercooler.
I have tossed out the idea of the supra intercooler after reading the autospeed article. http://www.autospeed.com/A_0901/page1.html
BTW im getting confused over the Supra models still. They refer to the intercoolers as being from 1GGTE air to air. what chassis is this? Is the 7MGTE ones the same intercooler???
I would love a series 6 RX7 i/c but somehow looks too bulky to mount up front. Dunno.
Any more opinions????
Also got any pics and specs/dimensions on the VR4 i/c??

i would go the vr4 it flows better than the toyotas and is 600mm x 200mm i think the toyotas are very restrictive (all 3sgte's) rx7 ones are good as well i have seen 400hp through these with out a problem

1GGTE one is from a GA70 Supra...a Mk3. I think from memory they aren't quite as good as the 7MGTE version. Can anyone back me up on this?

The 7M-GTE 'cooler, if it's the same as a JZA70s 'cooler (which I'm told is) is much bigger than the 1G-GTE's one. The 1G is really the same as 2 4A-GZE coolers in parallel, where as the 7M is about twice as thick again. This is what I plan to use when I turbo my 4A-GE.

Thanks for all your opinions. My above choices still remain. But, i am now considering a Water-to-Air configuration. Just need to find some info on them.
